By Julee Klein, Marketing Consultant & President Themes and Ideas for September Email Marketing CampaignsWe know it may sound a little crazy, but it's time to start thinking about the holidays and your holiday-related events and promotions. No really. According to the National Retail Federation, "each year about 40 percent of consumers begin their holiday shopping before Halloween." Now that's scary. But while it's time to start planning your Holiday promotions, it's also time to continue executing on your email campaigns. And to that end Constant Contact has come out with a short list of themes and ideas to keep you engaged with your customers throughout the month of September. We also offer some additional tips and ideas about each theme below the infographic. Additional Tips and Resources for September Email Marketing SuccessLabor Day all about the BBQ - and perhaps thanking your valued customers and employees. Remember that not all of your email content has to be about you. In fact it should be all about providing value to your clients and customers through your email marketing. And on September 3rd it can be about thanking your customers and hardworking employees. Read a Book Day on September 6th is a great way to engage with your clients and customers. Do you provide professional services such as mortgage banking or interior design? Then share your favorite book about your industry with your contacts. Or share your favorite business leadership book or any book that has inspired you. Again, if you think it will provide value to your clients, customers, and leads then share it as a way of staying top-of-mind and nurturing those relationships via email marketing. Additionally, if you're in the restaurant or hospitality industry, you can get really creative and host a poetry night or offer a discount to book-club groups that come in together with their current book. Self Improvement Month is a wonderful opportunity to collect feedback via a survey. Send an email letting your customers know that you're seeking to improve the quality of the services you provide. You can do this by setting up a simple survey in Constant Contact to collect answers to a few short questions about how you can improve. Asking for feedback promotes goodwill. Your clients will appreciate that you care enough to ask, even if they don't complete the full survey. Autumn is about abundance and harvest so consider sharing your time and talents. Sure you can use the Autumnal Equinox as an opportunity to share Fall tips and recipes, sure but it can also be about tying in a promotion with social impact as well. Local food banks are always in need of donations, as are local shelters. Consider a canned food drive or setting up a team building event to donate time as a team to your favorite non-profit and share that experience in your email marketing. Start Planning for the Holidays! With 40% of consumers beginning their holiday shopping before Halloween, September is the perfect month to start Holiday planning and promotions. Constant Contact has added a number of great new features and interactive content blocks that will help with your holiday promotions. Look for the event RSVP block for any Holiday events you have planned and non-profits should look for their specialized templates for annual appeals and donor anniversaries.
