By Julee Klein, Marketing Consultant & President Spring into action with May themes for email marketing. Not only is it May, it's also small business week this week, April 29 through May 5th. What a great time to get inspired and boost your email marketing efforts. But sometimes inspiration can be elusive. Are you stumped when it comes to email marketing ideas for May - beyond the obvious Mother's Day and graduation oppotunities? Not to worry, Constant Contact has put together a list of email themes and content ideas to use when creating campaigns for your customers, contacts, and communities. Bookmark the May 2018 marketing and Holiday planning infographic from Constant Contact. Email Marketing Content Ideas for May1. Mothers' Day Of course this is a great opportunity retail, salons, restaurants and the like. But get creative. There are lots of ways to incorporate "mom" in your marketing efforts. Bring a mom to work day? Mom appreciation day at work? Plan a fun event, promote it via email, and then on the day of the event be sure to take photos or video and share with your email contacts and on social media. 2. End of the School Year Same goes here. Clothing retailers and other goods and services are best suited to this particular theme. But look for ways to include end-of-the-school year interest in your small business. "Last Day of School" specials for restaurants and bars can be fun and entertaining as well. Maybe offer your customers a discount for wearing college or high-school school spirit-wear and again take pics and share on social media and via email. 3. Teacher Appreciation Day This is a great theme to incorporate in your marketing plan and email communications. In addition to offering a discount for teachers, you can even "adopt a teacher" (or better yet, a school) and encourage customers to help your business complete a teacher's wish list for school supplies for next year. Add a donation block to your emails and do some good for your teachers and school communities. 4. Support the Troops Get ready for Armed Forces Day on the 20th and Memorial Day on the 28th. Plan a Veterans Appreciation event, participate in local celebrations and memorials, and/or donate to related causes. But this is another great opportunity to use a donation block in your emails and do some good. With a 66% conversion rate, email marketing is your best bet for growing your business this Spring. The most important thing with email marketing is to be sure you're sending out emails on a regular basis and taking clues from your open rates and click-thrus. Check to see what is really working for your customers and communities. Keep creating, sending, and refining your email communications and you'll see those conversions increase and your business will bloom! Send it!
