Most business owners who come to us for content marketing and digital marketing services have the right assets, or at least know what they need. But they often struggle with the question, "How do I start using my website, social media, and brand assets to really grow my business and drive sales?" Followed by, "Ok, what do I do first?"

Here's a very simplified list of those important first steps to take when embarking on a content marketing program. We've included a list of resources below the infographic.

  1. Squarespace
  2. Weebly

Email Service Providers (ESPs): 
  1. Constant Contact
  2. MailChimp

Graphic Design Tools:
  1. Canva is an easy way to create any type of visual asset you may need. 
  2. Color Cop  for Windows is a handy free color picker for matching web-based elements to your brand palette.

Content Editing Tools:
  1. Grammarly 
  2. Hemingway Editor

Social Media Management Platforms:
  1. Buffer
  2. hootsuite.com

To rank, you need to research and do a competitive analysis of what’s already ranking. Hemingway hasn’t really helped us with this step in the writing process. Over the next quarter, we plan on using INK. It’s supposed to provide feedback to help improve relevancy and rankings.

Thanks for your comment. The Hemingway Editor is a copy content tool for readability, grammar, etc. For content marketing to be effective, content needs to be easily consumable by both people and search engines. I would recommend using both tools. Other search ranking tools to use in combination with editing tools (e.g., Hemingway Editor and Grammarly) are SEMrush, BuzzSumo, ahrefs, Spyfu, Moz - and there are many more.
